SIGG WMB ONE vs Shield ONE: Aluminium or Stainless Steel?

I already had several SIGG bottles, including steel ones, when I bought the aluminium WMB ONE Brave Eagle. The two stainless bottles in this comparison are Shield ONE models I have used: Shy Pink, from December 2023, and Black, which was my fifth SIGG bottle when I bought it in 2025. The aluminium one is the bottle I just added for the rucksack.
This is what each one is, how the ONE lid comes apart for cleaning, and which bottle I would buy again for which job. Prices below are what I paid, or what the listing showed in the video at the time.

WMB ONE Brave Eagle
The new bottle is the SIGG WMB ONE Brave Eagle, 0.6 L. The base label reads art. 9002.40, EAN 7610465900246, “100% recycled bottle”, BPA free, and a maximum of 40 °C (104 °F). The body is light blue, with a black eagle, pine trees, and a “BRAVE EXPLORER” print. The lid is a light grey ONE top with a carry loop.

I paid about €18 for it on sale on Amazon Germany. It is usually under €25 anyway. SIGG and the retailer listings I used for the video put it at 145 g, 22.5 cm tall and 7.1 cm across. I have not weighed it myself. Next to the steel SIGG bottles I already had, it is clearly a lot lighter, and 0.6 L fits the rucksack.
SIGG sells this Brave Eagle print in the kids’ WMB ONE range, on the school bottle collection. It is still a full 0.6 L bottle. On the bottle it says you can fill it with carbonated drinks, and that it should not go in the microwave. SIGG’s care notes for aluminium bottles say hand-wash only, with a mild detergent or cleaning tablets, and liquids no hotter than 40 °C, because aluminium conducts heat and the outside gets hot too.
The release on the lid is very pleasing. There is a seal in the cap and a second seal in the top, and both pop out for cleaning. I have never had a leak with these SIGG bottles. The top is replaceable. I would guess about €7 for a spare top. I have never needed one. On sigg.com the anthracite WMB ONE Top, art. 8629.30, is listed at €7.95.
It fits extremely well in the rucksack side pocket. For that job it is the right bottle. I also cut a short from this review, €18 SIGG Aluminium Bottle: Worth It?, on the weight and the pocket.

Shield ONE Black
The Black Shield ONE is 0.75 L of 18/8 stainless steel, art. 8992.30, EAN 7610465899236. The sleeve says made in China. The base reads 0.75 L / 25 oz, BPA free, do not microwave, and made with 90% recycled stainless steel. The finish is matt black, with a black ONE top.

SIGG’s Shield ONE page lists this Black 0.75 L at 197 g, 247 mm tall and 73 mm across, made in China, with no insulation. SIGG describes it as a single-walled 18/8 bottle, leak-proof with carbonated drinks, dishwasher safe, and 90% recycled. The matching lid on that page is art. 6168.40.
I paid about €17. The Amazon.de order page in the video says I last bought it on 23 November 2025. When I filmed in December 2025 the same page showed €22.04, down from €26.32, and it does go on sale. That was the price on the page that day.
Stainless steel is very good for holding water, and the sealing and build on this one are excellent. It does not leak. Open it by pulling the handle and pressing the button. One seal sits in the flip cap. Unscrew the top and there is a second seal, and the inside is stainless steel.

Shield ONE Shy Pink
The Shy Pink is the same 0.75 L Shield ONE idea in a dusty pink, with a matching pink ONE top. The sleeve reads Shield ONE Shy Pink 0.75 L, art. 8992.10, EAN 7610465899212, and 18/8 stainless steel. The base says BPA free, Swiss design and engineering, made in China, and do not microwave. SIGG is a Swiss brand. This bottle is designed in Switzerland and manufactured in China.

It is BPA free and leak-proof, and the sleeve says it can take water or carbonated drinks. The top unscrews, so spare parts for the top are available. It has a seal, it snaps shut, and it can be locked so it stays closed. I had been using a bottle like this at the gym, left it there, and could not find it, which is why this one got ordered. It works for the gym, for travel, and for water on the desk. SIGG sells the Shield ONE in other colours and sizes. The Black and the Shy Pink I own are both 0.75 L.
Because it is stainless steel, it can go in the dishwasher. SIGG marks the Shield ONE as dishwasher safe, which is the useful difference from the aluminium WMB ONE. SIGG’s care notes still say to keep the cap out of the dishwasher: take it off, rinse it, and let it air dry. Seals wear out, and SIGG sells a replacement.

The ONE lid, the seals, and spare parts
All three use the same kind of one-hand ONE top: a carry loop, a push button, and a flip cap. On the Brave Eagle the cap seal and the seal in the top both pop out. The Black bottle is the same arrangement, one seal in the flip cap and another once the top is unscrewed. That is the part I actually clean. I have never had a leak with these SIGG bottles, and I have never had to replace a top.

SIGG sells the gasket as art. 8634.00, and calls it a gasket set. I think the replacement seals come in a small pack, maybe two. Check the top you have before you order one. SIGG’s gasket packaging says art. 8634.00 fits WMB ONE Top 1 and is not for WMB ONE Top 2. The Shield ONE Black page lists that gasket, plus a WMB ONE Top 2 at art. 6051.40. The anthracite spare top I priced above is art. 8629.30, the one at €7.95.
Washing, heat, and fizzy drinks
Care is the practical difference between the two materials.
SIGG says aluminium bottles should be washed with cleaning tablets or a mild detergent, and should not go in the dishwasher. Fill them no hotter than 40 °C. The Brave Eagle base carries that 40 °C limit, and the bottle says not to microwave it. SIGG’s general rule is the same for the bottles: no microwave, no hot stove, no hot oven, and no freezer.
SIGG lists the Shield ONE as dishwasher safe and single-walled, with insulation marked no. SIGG still says to keep the cap out of the dishwasher. The Brave Eagle bottle and the Shield ONE page both allow carbonated drinks. SIGG’s wording is that the ONE closure is leak-proof with carbonated drinks. My own experience matches that: no leaks so far. I have no separate drop test or heat test to add.
Which one to buy
The Brave Eagle is the one for a bag. It is the lighter bottle, 0.6 L sits in a side pocket, and it is made in Switzerland. The trade is hand washing, and nothing hotter than 40 °C. The eagle print is from SIGG’s kids range. I bought it for myself.
The Shield ONE is the one when I want 0.75 L of stainless steel, a bottle I can put in the dishwasher, and something that lives at the gym, on a trip, or on the desk. Black and Shy Pink are the same size in the bottles I own. Pick the colour. SIGG’s published weight and measurements above are for the Black 0.75 L. Both of mine are made in China, with Swiss design on the Shy Pink base and on SIGG’s Shield ONE page.
In my opinion the Shield ONE is the best stainless steel water bottle. That is what I called it in the Black bottle video.
Verdict
I would buy the WMB ONE Brave Eagle again for the rucksack. About €18 on sale, clearly lighter than my steel SIGG bottles, and a pocket fit I am happy with.
I would buy the Shield ONE again when I want the larger steel bottle and the dishwasher. The Black one was about €17 in November 2025, the sealing has been excellent, and the Shy Pink has been the gym and desk bottle since I replaced the one I left behind.
The lid is the shared part worth knowing. On the Brave Eagle and the Black bottle, two seals come out for cleaning. A spare top is a small part if one breaks, and I have not needed one yet.
