Activity Parks in Finland for Families: Water Parks, Amusement Parks and Zoos (2026)

If you are planning a trip to Finland with children, or you already live here and need a day out, this list covers the main water parks, amusement parks, zoos and activity parks. I focus mostly on southern Finland, within about a two-hour drive of Helsinki, Turku or Tampere, but the best-known parks further north are included too.
I first wrote this list in 2019 and checked every park again in October 2026. Some parks have closed or changed owners since then, and those changes are marked below.
Remember the seasons. Most outdoor parks in Finland are open only from late May or June to mid-August. Indoor water parks, spas and indoor activity parks are open all year. Always check the opening hours on the park’s own website before you go.
Water parks
| Park | Location | Season | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Serena | Espoo | Outdoor park in summer, indoor water park in autumn and winter | Finland's biggest water park, 30 minutes from Helsinki. In 2026 it closed for maintenance from mid-August to 9 October. |
| Flamingo | Vantaa | All year (indoor) | Indoor water park and spa next to Jumbo shopping centre. Closes for a short maintenance break in August. |
| JukuPark | Turku | Mid-June to mid-August | Outdoor water park with slides for all ages. |
| Tropiclandia | Vaasa | All year (indoor) | Spa with slides, a wave pool and saunas. Hotel and ferry packages are available. |
Amusement parks
| Park | Location | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Linnanmäki | Helsinki | Finland's oldest and most popular amusement park, easy to reach by tram. Entry to the park area is free; you pay for rides with a wristband or tickets. |
| Särkänniemi | Tampere | Amusement park and the Näsinneula observation tower by Lake Näsijärvi, close to Tampere city centre. |
| Tykkimäki | Kouvola | Turned 40 in 2026. Smaller and quieter than Linnanmäki. |
| PowerPark | Alahärmä, Kauhava | Large amusement park with roller coasters, karting and accommodation. The 2026 season opened on 9 May. |
| Puuhamaa | Tervakoski, Janakkala | Activity and water park for younger children, between Helsinki and Tampere. Opens in early June. |
| Visulahti | Mikkeli | Small family amusement park, open in summer. |
Zoos
Finland has dozens of zoos, but most are small petting farms. These are the biggest:
| Zoo | Location | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Korkeasaari Zoo | Helsinki | On an island in Helsinki, reached by ferry in summer or over a bridge all year. Open all year. |
| Ranua Wildlife Park | Ranua, Lapland | Arctic animals, including polar bears, about an hour south of Rovaniemi. Summer evenings with longer opening hours. |
| Ähtäri Zoo | Ähtäri | The zoo returned its giant pandas to China in 2024, went bankrupt in autumn 2025 and reopened under new owners on 15 May 2026. |
| Zoolandia | Lieto, near Turku | Around 20 minutes' drive from Turku. Smaller zoo that suits younger children. |
Indoor activity parks
- SuperPark is a Finnish chain of indoor activity parks with trampolines, climbing, skate ramps and ball games. It is a good rainy-day option. Check the website for current locations, as they have changed over the years. The Vantaa park is in Tammisto.
- Angry Birds Activity Park parks opened in several holiday resorts in the 2010s. The Angry Birds licence for the parks ended in 2026, and some parks have closed or been renamed. Check with the resort before you go.
Other parks and attractions
- Moomin World in Naantali is a theme park built around the Moomin stories, on an island next to Naantali’s old town. It is open in summer, in 2026 from 9 June to 21 August. It suits children up to about ten years old best.
- Flowpark adventure parks have tree-top climbing courses in several towns, such as Turku, Tampere and Vierumäki. They are open in the summer season.
- PuuhaPark in Ojakkala, Vihti, is a traditional family park with bouncy castles and a water play area for small and primary-school-age children. It is open in summer until the end of October.
Removed from the list
- Vaski Adventure Island in Naantali has been closed since 2019.
- Kesämaa in Punkaharju has struggled with profitability, and its water park season has been short. Check with Punkaharju Resort before you plan a visit.
Tips for a day out
- Buy tickets online. Many parks sell cheaper tickets online than at the gate, and summer weekends sell out.
- Check the height limits. Rides in amusement parks have minimum heights, so check them before promising a ride to a small child.
- Combine parks. Moomin World and the Naantali spa, or Särkänniemi and Tampere’s other attractions, make an easy weekend trip.
- Plan for rain. Have an indoor backup, such as Flamingo, Serena’s indoor park or a SuperPark, in case the weather turns.
